What is PEPE:
PEPE is a joint initiative between the oil industry and the Montanuniversität Leoben founded to strengthen the School of Petroleum Engineering at the Montanuniversität.
In a combined effort from the chairs of Petroleum Engineering, the university leadership, and the petroleum industry, the following goals for PEPE are reached:
The goal of PEPE is to:
- a world wide top ranked reputation in education and research in the areas pertaining to Petroleum Engineering. To be the most renowned PE Dept. in Europe and top 3 world wide by 2012.
- increase the number of graduates from 20 – 30 to 50 graduates per year
- increase the quality of all basic teaching/learning aspects of Petroleum Engineering
- be the first choice for all relative target groups (students, industrialists, and scientists)
- Integrate the Petroleum Engineering Department with both the Geo-Sciences and Geophysics Department (G&G) to create an enduring developmental alliance as well as an attractive focal point
- focus the majority of research in the area of optimizing exploration and production of existing (mature) oil and gas fields.
Our leading partners have pledged the following investments:
OMV – to allot 2 Million EUR from 2006-2010 for education and research.
RAG - pledged 400.000 EUR over the next 4 years as well as the data for the Trattnach project.
