In 2008, the building of a Petroleum Geology Lab was made possible by the generous donations from PEPE, the EU and Land Steiermark in line with the EFRE Project.  The laboratory is fitted to help with research and education in the areas of:

• Isotope-Chemistry,
• Organic Geo-Chemistry,
• Microscopy
• Petrophysics
• Computing Lab

and is considered top in it‘s class in Central Europe.
