Traditionally the University of Leoben has been closely tied to industry and business. Because of its unique teaching program, it occupies a special place in the international educational marketplace. Graduates from Leoben are sought after more than ever and the industry is demanding more. The high number of new students in the past few years gives hope and soon the first of the strong classes will be finishing their studies.

Research and teaching go hand in hand at the University of Leoben. Through the many industry sponsored departmental projects, the students are integrated at a very early stage  in a network which will later benefit them when starting their careers. Thanks to the teaching, which is oriented towards applied science, the students are always aware of new developments in their fields and can quickly find their way around in their profession.

Both research and teaching are oriented along the “value-added-chain” from raw materials to basic and functional materials to finished components and/or systems. The program is rounded off by sectional competencies such as environmental protection technology, business administration and economics as well as the basic courses in the natural sciences.
