BSc Program – Petroleum Engineering (7 Semesters)

During the first part of the studies (4 semesters) students are taught the engineering fundamentals in depth. The second part (3 semesters) provides skills in the engineering basics of the respective field of studies.


Course list and overview:

Semester 1-2: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical engineering, Computer Application and Programming
Semester 3-4: focuses on Geosciences, Business Administration and Economics, with a special emphasis on Mechanical Engineering.
Semester 5: focuses on Geophysics, Fluid Flow, Flow Through Porous Media, Probe Tests, Technical Basics of Drilling and Petroleum/Gas Production.
Semester 6-7: Drilling, Production and Reservoir Engineering - additionally, Petroleum Technology, Petroleum Economics and Petroleum Geology

First thesis in semester 5 (technical basics of drilling and petroleum/gas production)
Second thesis in Semester 7 (planning tasks in petroleum engineering)

Required work experience:
Internships in the petroleum industry with a minimum of 80 workdays are required during the semester and summer holidays (20 shifts in drilling, 20 shifts in production and 40 shifts elective).
